Feeling Sleepy while studying?

No I am not going to tell you how to stop feeling sleepy but I will welcome you, if you have any responses I will be happy to know.

The blog is about why someone feels sleepy while studying.. It is a larger extension to a small story from Ramayana.

In Ramayana, there is a character called Kumbhakarna, this demon is the brother of Ravana. Kumbhakarna can sleep for 6 months continuously and thats due to a blessing from Lord Brahma. The story says that Kumbhakarna started his Penance, Gods, were sure that when he completes his penace, he will ask for Indrasana, the throne of Indra.( Indra is the king of Gods.)

So they start to meet Lord Brahma and ask him not to fulfil the desire, but unfortunately when they reach, the place, Lord Brahma has already left. So they request his consort, Lord Saraswati, who being the Goddess of Education, skills and arms, to help them out.

She reaches Kumbhakarna's tongue and makes him pronounce Nidrasana (Nidra meaning sleep and Asana meaning place. ) So he is given the ability to sleep continuously. This is the mythological part.

From then on whenever Lord Saraswathi is called, i.e. when we start Vidyarajana, she comes with Nidra (Sleep) with her. Unless you have the ability to control Sleep, Nidra dominates Indra(or what your actual goal is) and  Saraswati also, and you end up sleeping instead of studying.

So control your sleep to find your Indrasana..

This is fictional story, just to generate interest ,this is only imagination, not a fact, hence you will not find it in Puranas or reference in original Ramayan

Investment

Lets first understand what's investment :

1.The act of investing; laying out money or capital in an enterprise with the expectation of profit.
2.Money that is invested with an expectation of profit
That is in general in economics or normal definition.

When do you get interest.?

You get interest when you invest something, everyone will agree.
Now if you invest money in a bank its sure to give you some return on investment in the form of interest that is money comes back to you.
When you don't invest money, naturally you don't get interest, similarly, if you havent taken any loan you dont have to pay any interest.
Now if u want to get interested in something, start investing in that.
For starters if you want to arouse your interest in running daily morning.
Buy shoes, buy an alarm clock, and invest all that you can and you will get interest in doing that thing.

Suppose you want to get interested in reading books, then buy books of worth Rs 1000 or more, so that whenever you think of books, you think of money and then you start reading strictly.

If you see the parents of children studying in corporate college, They are very much concerned whether their child is going to college daily or not. Whether his attendance is good enough , how good marks he is getting. Because the parents have invested so much they take natural interest.

Some other parents who put their children in ordinary govt colleges , don't care much and you see that most of the children are bunkers.
(There are of course some exceptions in both cases, I'm speaking of a general trend) . So, parents tend to invest on children to get returns. That's the problem with investment.

It may give positive returns or negative returns. When it gives positive returns its called Profit or interest. When the returns are negative its called Loss or Experience.

There is some amount of risk everywhere.

So Invest your time, Money, salute and friendship in the right places so that you get good return on investment..

All the best...

Before you start to invest, Wishing to get good harvest

understand that its a real hard test, it is like making a nest.

Investing is a risk in itself, Do invest taking all precautions

otherwise you may end-up poor

even lose those who are dear.

The story of 3 Dolls - Keep curiosity alive

Rewritten by memory & Tweaking to add my flavour to it.

A man called Jigyasu visited a shop and saw some Dolls.

He asked what is the price of the doll.

The shopkeeper shared the price 10₹ for doll 1, 100₹ per doll 2 and 10,000₹ for doll 3..

The man was surprised about the price variation, he asked what's special about this doll why so high price for doll 3 when they look identical. The shopkeeper said if you promise to purchase, I will show the rahasyam. These are a set and to be purchased at ₹10110..

Now our Jigyasu was highly curious man and he had enough money, he decided to purchase these dolls..

The shopkeeper said, these are from the city of Dharanagari of Maharaja Bhoj..

They are not just dolls but they indicate human behaviour

The shopkeeper brought a set of colourful straws,

He started inserting it in the first doll.. Whichever straw he entered went in from one ear and came out from another.. This was of ₹10

Now the same thing he did for the second doll, some colours went in,  stayed in for sometimes and only a few colours came out from the mouth .this doll costs ₹100

Now the third one some colours went in and stayed in.. Some colours went in but came out from other ear, some colours came out from the mouth after entering a few more of the same colour, some never came out.  This was for ₹10,000

Now the shopkeeper explained. The first doll represents the non learner .  He hears and forgets everything, doesn't do anything.

The second one for ₹100, this doll is a choice maker it takes some thing in and prefers to keep something in and shelves others

The third one of ₹10,000 is an aspect of an efficient leader/ minister of the king. He has to decide which news to leave as it is or ignore, which is take in mind, what to keep secret, which one to tell and which are to be told after going in details..

Hence these dolls are very special.

Learning the lesson Jigyasu left the place with the dolls. You can see the dolls with  Jigyasu as he never sold them..

But where is he, that's Jigyasa that I am left it

Jigyasa means curiosity in some languages while in some it means question. Whatever it means you question when you are curious to know, hence a person should be curious to know but also absorb the learning..

Moving from thoughts to action

Moving from thoughts to action

After reading several books and listening to many lectures, one thing is clear that thought leads to action, but action leads to fulfilment and satisfaction.  Every thought is complete when it is supported by a complimentary action to make the decision a true decision.  If I am asked what the only one learning from the book , Awaken the Giant within” “every decision is true only if you take an action in the direction of action. Although every decision and action may not result in the goal that you chose.

I dreamed of clearing UPSC Exam

Not just earn bread and butter also add some jam

But I realize today :

“ maine nahi kiya utna kaam

Jisse UPSC register mein hota mera naam

kuch sapne rahte hai adhure, jaise kaliya tuti ho bina khile

gum chhodo, kuch karo naya,  chalo chale,

thodi si takleef ho jaye bhale,

karo mehnat jisse dekho muskan logo ke chehre pe,

mushkil mein jab ho kare yaad tumhe,

banao apne aap ko kalakar itna

Na bol paye tumko banane ki liye tumne kitna?

Mauke ki talash mein rahne se hai behtar lage rahna

Sab vidwano ka bas hai yahi kehna,

Mat karo chintan fal ka aur ruk jao beech mein

Karte raho karma, desh ya videsh mein

Bahuto ko ho jaata hai raaste se pyaar

Raaste hai behtar manzil se bahut baar

Chahe ho paidal, rail ho, ya ho Car

Lena pehla kadam, yaar ,

Phir Chalte rahna mere yaar.

Chalte rahna mere yaar. “

Indian Calendar - Sun and Moon based

16 Dec 2022

Everyday has a sunrise and a sunset.Today  these events have happened. Whether we see them or not these actually happen. Similarly, there are certain people who work like the Sun, whether it’s a Sunday, Monday, or Diwali or Christmas they are coming and doing their duty. One such is the milk vendor. It’s a rarest case, that a milkman gets a holiday. On Our Holidays, people ask him more milk to make kheer and Basundi/ Shreekhand etc.

In addition, there are certain people in life who don’t get rest Like our mothers or women at home. They also have to work on each and every day to cater to our needs.

Therefore, these need to be respected and hence our Indian thoughts have always insisted on the worship of Mother, father, Acharya, atithi and then to others. (Matru devo Bhava, Pitru devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava, Atithi devo Bhava). Similarly secret of Sun’s prayer is shared by the father to the Son during the Upanayanam or Munji/ Poita, pavitra dharan or Jenivu dharan or thread ceremony in most Brahmin families across India.

The worship of Sun has been of paramount importance in India. The calendar in India is both Chandramaan and Suryaman. While the waxing and waning moon make the Shukla paksha and Krishna paksha (Shukla means white, the nights gets whiter and whiter and Krishna means dark ,so the moon light gets darker and darker) . The moon takes 28-30 days to complete a cycle of its journey from Full moon (Poornima)  to full moon.  If a month has two Poornimas within the month, then it’s called Blue Moon month, which happens very rarely. Hence the idiom “Once in a blue moon” is coined.

Surya or Sun also takes care of the Ritu or Seasons. Based on the cycle of the sun the different seasons are formed in India. Hence the Aditya Hridayam also worships Sun has Ritu Karta. It makes the day, hence Sun is called Dinkar (Din +kar), the morning is called Prabhat  ,so as he makes the Morning he is called Prabhakar. Interestingly Sun Follows the English calendar and every 14th or 15th of the month he changes the Astrological sign or the constellation of stars or Rashi . Such a date is called as the Sankraman or Sankranthi. And in the month of January he moves to the Makar Rashi from Dhanu Rashi . Dhanu rashi symbolizes the bow. It is said that due to winter the Man is not able to stand straight and bends like a bow, hence the month of Dec 14 to Jan 14 is also called Dhanu Maas. During this period it is recommended to eat Khichdi with moong dal and Rice. I am not much into science, But if you think over, making dal and Rice separately, mixing it and then eating will lead to cooling of the rice, hence better making a ready to eat dish and start eating.

Once every 27 months, it so happens that there is a whole of a Chandra maas, means a poornima to Poornima or Amavasya to Amavasya which starts on 15th or 16th and ends before 14th.. Such a rare month is called as a Shunya maas or an Adhik Maas..A whole month that misses the Sankraman of Surya. IT becomes Void and its called Adhik. This helps us to match the Chandraman with suryamaan and all the festivals in India which are dependent on the Ritu and ritu karta are back in the calendar and match the ritu.

Hence the Indians of the yesteryears took the decision that the Sun is to be worshipped and they worship him in different ways. The Telugu, Marathi, Gujrati, Kannada , Tamil etc have Sankranti has the important day for worshipping him. While the purvanchal guys (Eastern UP and Bihari’s do it on the Sashti of Kartik called as Chhat puja. Surya Sashti.

Don’t you think we Hindus are so much of nature lovers. Salute to our ancestors.  Waiting for another Sunrise.

Dashavataram continued - Baseless but thoughtful

14.12.2022

I was thinking of evolution. Evolution both in Darwin theory From pisces to Mammals to humans and also from Dashavatar which also goes from Matsya (Pisces - Fish in water ) Kurma (Tortoise- Amphibian- water and land), Varaha (Boar - Mammal)- in land, Nrusimha (Half lion and Man). Who has copied from whom or both thoughts similar?

I then looked into some different aspect. The sperm that is created by the man swims in the pool of semen of male and then comes into the contact of female.. Its the Matsya part of human life. Then inside the mother’s womb the child is in water.. Continuing its matsya avatar - fish like journey. Now after the baby is 6 months in womb it gets it's hands and legs it evolves and is ready to become a baby. It breaks the waters of the mother womb and crawls out of mothers womb.. That appears to me the Kurma Avatar (Tortoise) , where the baby slowly develops itself and enters land.

The baby makes it mother run around it and grabs attention. All the world of the family is based mostly on its way, how sleeps disturbs sleep of parent. Like he is taking mother on his shell. The mother being bhu Devi is dependent on the child. She is dependent, to wake up and adjust herself to his timing. She can also escape certain things  sometimes saying that the baby will not allow me to do so and so... So the Kurma avatara it is the baby of 1-4 months moving slow and steady winning hearts of people and eliciting smiles.

Between 5-12 months the baby starts standing on 4 legs, wants to eat everything like a pig.. It does not think day or night but demands to be fed. It also holds mother dearly and his teeth start coming.. Which are like the vajra  danta of Varaha roopam.. As teeth start coming the child is also taking to different tasks.  So it's the Varaha avataram..As in Varaha-avataram is said to hold earth in his tusks or Teeth, the child keeps eating mud and thus Holds earth in his teeth!

Now the child has grown up starts walking it does not make difference of day and night. He can be present anywhere and everywhere, reach out to things that are kept away from him. He plays in mud and makes his nails dirty, he has to be scolded and he cries in anger like the Nrusimha

Again a metaphor for Nrusimha avataram

Therefore, we take a break at fourth avataram. Let's see the next part later.

(Totally, my own concept lacks many details - or any scientific assessment - this is actually thinking aloud)
